Renewable energy sources are the solution to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and fight climate change. Concerning electricity generation, there are different avalable technologies, namely those that use solar energy and biomass as driving sources. It is expected that no single solution will meet the increasing demand in electricity consumption, and therefore several technologies are under developement and demonstration.

The aim of the workshop was to give an overview of the technologies developed and under demonstration in REELCOOP and EUROSUNMED projects, both co-funded by the European Commission. Concepts and available output results were presented, including technologies such as solar PV, solar thermal collectors, organic Rankine power cycles, biogas production and their application to electricity generation systems.
