Over 150 students, researchers and professors working in the area of renewable energies in the MENA and EU joined the EUROSUNMED International School from 28 to 31 March 2015 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

The participants from  North Africa (Algeria, Morocco and Egypt) and Europe (Germany and Spain) had the opportunity to discuss with the speakers and exchange among each other. This event targeted mainly students (PhD, Post-doc, Engineering and Master students), but also a number of professors and representatives from private companies were welcomed.

The School was opened by Reinhold Brender, Minister Counsellor at the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt. He highlighted the importance of the cooperation between the EU and Egypt and the development of renewable energies in the Mediterranean region, and in Egypt in particular.

The four days of the School offered numerous sessions, for both early-stage and experienced researchers, covering a variety of topics, namely photovoltaics, concentrated solar power, thermal & electrical storage systems as well as electrical grid and economics of renewable energies. Two poster sessions provided opportunities for the attendees to present their work to the other participants. Two students were awarded for best poster presentation.

In addition to the information and knowledge dissemination, the events provided a forum for networking for the participants. The students and researchers had many occasions to connect in between the sessions and during social events. As one of the outcomes, the students created an alumni facebook page in order to continue their collaboration.

The presentations are available for download at the bottom of the page.
