We thank all the participants, speakers and the organizers for their contribution to this successful event!

Over 200 students, researchers and professors working in the area of renewable energies in the MENA, EU and beyond joined the EUROSUNMED International School and Workshop from 7 to 11 April 2014 in Rabat, Morocco.

The events were organized in the frame of the EUROSUNMED project, supported by the FP7 Programme of the European Commission. The events were hosted by the Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research (MAScIR).

The School was opened by M. Belmokhtar, Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, and Mrs Benkhaldoun, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training. Also the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) highlighted the importance of the development of renewable energies in the Mediterranean region, and in Morocco in particular.

The following four days offered numerous sessions, for both early-stage and experienced researchers, covering a variety of topics, namely photovoltaics, concentrated solar power, thermal & electrical storage systems as well as electrical grid. A poster session provided an opportunity for the attendees to present their work to the other participants.

The events ended with a one-day Workshop presented by keynote speakers capturing the latest developments in the area of renewable electricity generation. The Workshop was organized in collaboration with another EU-financed project, REELCOOP (Research Cooperation in Renewable Energy Technologies for Electricity Generation).

All presentations are available upon request from Célia Janus (celia.janus[at]emrs-strasbourg.com).
